Therapeutic Shoe Fitter

You must be 18 years or older and meet the following requirements to be eligible to take the therapeutic shoe fitter exam. Please refer to the Fitter Candidate Guide for specific eligibility requirements. 

Education 

Experience 

Pathway 1

  • Completion of 125 hours of supervised therapeutic shoe fitting patient care experience obtained either before or after completion of your therapeutic shoe education course. Any experience with initial patient evaluations and final fitting/deliveries of therapeutic shoes/inserts must be done under Direct Supervision. 

Pathway 2

  • No hours of supervised therapeutic shoe fitting patient care experience are required for those currently holding an ABC Certified Fitter-orthotics (CFo), ABC Certified Prosthetist (CP), or Podiatrist (DPM) credential.
