The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), in proud partnership with the Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (The O&P Foundation), is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2022 inaugural ABC Student Achievement and Student Diversity Scholarships.
The ABC Student Achievement Scholarships support the continued academic success of 10 qualified O&P students each year, and the ABC Student Diversity Scholarships support the academic success of four racially or ethnically underrepresented students in the O&P profession each year. Each student recipient is awarded a $10,000 scholarship.
"What an honor it is to be able to support future O&P practitioners through these scholarships, including specific support for students from as many backgrounds and perspectives as possible,” remarked ABC Board President Brett Saunders, CPO, FAAOP. “As our amazing profession continues to grow, so too does our voice and ability to make a difference. Congratulations to these deserving students!”
This year, eighty-seven students applied for the ABC Student Achievement Scholarship, and 29 students applied for the ABC Student Diversity Scholarship.
"We were thrilled to receive such a robust response to both scholarship opportunities," said Donald Katz, MHA, CO/L, FAAOP, chair of the OPERF board of directors. “The OPERF board of directors would also like to extend its appreciation to all who served as reviewers for this year’s submissions. Their guidance and support were invaluable."
