The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) and the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) are proud to announce that the established education and certification pathway to the Certified Orthotist-Prosthetist (CPO) credential was approved as an accredited Prosthetist/Orthotist Level Pathway by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO).
“The cooperation between our two organizations has created a solid foundation for O&P education, residency and certification of orthotists and prosthetists. ISPO accreditation is a highly sought-after recognition that we are honored to have achieved,” said Cathy Carter, ABC Executive Director.
ISPO accreditation recognizes the ABC/NCOPE pathway to CPO certification as meeting the highest international education/certification standards in existence today. ISPO’s standards are recognized worldwide as the benchmark in the profession.
The five-year accreditation is the longest accreditation cycle awarded by ISPO. In addition, the final report bestowed a rating of Exemplary citing program excellence in all areas examined.
“We are so proud to have attained ISPO accreditation for our Prosthetist/Orthotist pathway and are appreciative of the international recognition as the US’s premiere certification pathway,” said Robin Seabrook, NCOPE Executive Director.
