What You Need to Know about Provider Transaction Access Numbers (PTANs)

When submitting claims to Medicare, facilities must use their PTAN to ensure payments and reimbursements are correctly linked to the appropriate facility location. Each facility location should have its own PTAN, even if multiple locations are part of the same parent company. This is a crucial component to the billing process, helping ensure that services are accurately tracked, and claims are effectively managed.

Therefore, if you practice at multiple facilities, be advised that multiple PTANs may be used when submitting claims. To verify or update the PTAN listed on your facility’s ABC records, please email us at accreditation@abcop.org.
