ABC's Scope of Practice Committee and Board of Directors recently revised the ABC Orthotic, Prosthetic and Pedorthic Scope of Practice to recognize the role certified prosthetists play in the provision of prosthetic care following  an Osseointegration (OI) surgery. 

The use of OI procedures has grown recently, and prosthetic practices are seeing more individuals with limb loss who have had this procedure. ABC certified prosthetists are a critical member of the care team following an OI surgery and are uniquely qualified to facilitate the patient’s return to function using a prosthesis compatible with the OI components.
