If your five-year continuing education cycle ends on December 31, 2022, don’t wait until the last minute to start earning the credits you need.
While five years is a long time, sometimes even the most important to-dos can get lost in the shuffle. Be sure to set reminders and make a game plan for earning credits well in advance. In fact, consider completing your credit requirements before December 1 so you can rest assured there won’t be a lapse in your credential. Not meeting your CE requirements before the deadline will result in suspension and require that you earn any deficient credits and penalty credits within the following calendar year.
Beyond the risk of suspension, many hospitals, universities and other organizations expect to be able to verify that your credential has been renewed before the end of the year. If you wait until December to earn or submit credits, we cannot verify that you are recertified until January due to the time required to process credits.
Need help earning CEUs? Use our course search tool any time and select your credential type to find preapproved Category I credits. You can also report activities and courses that have not been preapproved by ABC for Category II credits. Some examples include teaching or presenting, taking college courses or allied health and medical seminars, attending hospital teaching clinics, participating in humanitarian work and providing resident supervision.
