ABC and NCOPE were recently awarded accreditation for the Prosthetist/Orthotist Level Pathway by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO).
ISPO is a multidisciplinary organization that promotes access to appropriate and equitable rehabilitation, mobility devices and other assistive technology to improve the quality of life for people with reduced mobility.
“The cooperation between ABC and NCOPE has created a solid foundation for O&P education, residency and certification of orthotists and prosthetists. ISPO accreditation is a highly sought-after recognition that we are honored to have achieved,” said Cathy Carter, ABC Executive Director.
ISPO accreditation recognizes the ABC/NCOPE pathway to CPO certification as meeting the highest international education/certification standards in existence today. ISPO’s standards are recognized worldwide as the benchmark in the profession.
The five-year accreditation is the longest accreditation cycle awarded by ISPO. In addition, the final report bestowed a rating of Exemplary citing program excellence in all areas examined.
“We are proud to have attained ISPO accreditation for our Prosthetist/Orthotist pathway and are appreciative of the international recognition as the US’s premiere certification pathway,” said Robin Seabrook, NCOPE Executive Director.
