The ABC Board of Directors recently approved a new pathway for prosthetic and orthotic assistant certification. 

Beginning January 1, any graduate of a CAAHEP accredited O&P assistant program is immediately eligible to take the ABC certification exams. Information about accredited O&P assistant programs can be found on NCOPE’s website (ncope.org)

The board believes certified O&P assistants will continue to play an important role in care delivery as the use of care extenders increases across all categories of healthcare. More information about the role of an ABC certified assistant is in the ABC Assistant Scope of Practice.
