We are currently preparing to send a new Practice Analysis of Certified Practitioners in the Disciplines of Orthotics and Prosthetic survey to all ABC certified orthotists and prosthetists. We conduct practice analyses approximately every seven years to ensure we are keeping up with changes in the profession. This extensive survey aims to collect detailed information necessary to develop a new practitioner practice analysis and we strongly encourage the participation of all ABC certified practitioners.
in a unique position to provide vital information about their practice and contribute to the future of the profession by participating in this important survey. PLUS! Practitioners can earn continuing education credits for completing the survey.
Tony Ward, ABC Practice Analysis Task Force Chairman, explains the importance of the survey process.
“This detailed survey will allow us to build the practice profile of the contemporary O&P practitioner, and therefore identify the knowledge and skills needed to provide proper patient care. Participation from the O&P community is critical and much appreciated. Once the practice analysis is complete, it serves as a blueprint for contemporary practice,” says Ward.
What is a Practice Analysis?
A practice analysis is a validation study focusing on providing a contemporary description of the tasks and responsibilities of the orthotic and prosthetic profession. The survey results will be used in the development of valid and reliable exams; to determine current trends and future directions in practice; to provide a framework for education, accreditation and residency programs and to convey to others outside our disciplines the scope of services provided by certified practitioners.
The survey will be emailed to all ABC certified practitioners in October. If we don’t have your current email address, please send it as soon as possible to info@abcop.org.
