Obtaining ABC Facility accreditation is a straightforward process. We are a Medicare Deemed Authority for all aspects of Medicare Part B DMEPOS care and service. For information on a specific program, select the program from the list to the left. For general information, click on the tabs below.
There are 3 types of fees associated with accreditation: Application, Survey and Annual.
The Application Fees are established at $925 for the initial ("primary") location and $400 for additional ("affiliate") locations up to 4. After the fourth affiliate location, a new application with a new primary location and up to 4 affiliate locations may be submitted.
The Survey Fee is $600 per location for the first discipline and $250 per location for each additional discipline. The survey fee for each affiliate location is $500. Note: If the organization provides DME services that require home delivery or item rental, the survey fee is an additional $2,000 per location.
There is an Annual Fee of $600 for the primary location and $300 for each affiliate location. The Annual Fee is prorated in the first year and is billed immediately upon issuing an affirmative accreditation decision. Thereafter, the fee is billed in mid-September and due on December 1.
The following is a list of basic eligibility requirements. This is not a comprehensive list of all accreditation requirements, these are used to determine whether we will accept an application or not. The full set of requirements are indentified through the application and the standards application to the services your company provides.
The organization is located within the United States or one of its territories or possessions or is a Department of Defense medical treatment facility or program.
The organization is a formally organized and legally constituted entity that provides the type(s) of DMEPOS patient care services for which it is applying.
The organization is licensed according to applicable state and federal laws and regulations and maintains all current legal authorization to operate.
The organization clearly defines the services it provides to patients, insurance companies, referral sources, and regulatory bodies including CMS.
The organization must complete and sign an attestation to never falsify or misrepresent accredited status.
The organization must apply for ABC accreditation in all services it provides. This requirement extends only to those services for which ABC offers accreditation.
The organization agrees to be bound by the ABC Code of Professional Responsibility.
The organization agrees to the terms and conditions in the application materials.
The organization employs competent care providers.
Once your application is approved, a site survey will be performed.
To meet CMS regulations, all surveys are unscheduled and unannounced. Onsite surveys will be conducted during the organization’s regular business hours, as stated on the application. All surveyors will have a photo identification badge.
It is the responsibility of the applicant organization to be prepared for the survey at all times, as ABC will not reschedule a survey due to organizational conflicts or the availability of specific staff members.
Surveys are conducted by a single surveyor or a team of surveyors. Surveyors are assigned based on the service(s) provided as indicated on the application; ABC surveyors will be knowledgeable in the specific service(s) provided. However, if the survey process indicates that services are being provided beyond those indicated on the application and ABC has an accreditation program for those services, the surveyor will evaluate the organization based on the range of actual services provided. Applicant organizations will be required to modify their application prior to the continuation of the survey.
ABC reserves the right to send a surveyor apprentice as part of the survey team. Apprentices are sent at no charge to the organization.
All ABC surveyors/apprentices must disclose any potential conflict of interest with the applicant organization to ABC before the surveyor is assigned to conduct the survey. Surveyors/apprentices with a confirmed conflict are not used for the survey being scheduled.
